After more than four decades of wood working and a quarter century as an avid whitewater paddler PLEDGER’S CRAFT owner and chief craftsman has decided to combine his two passions to produce the finest paddling crafts on the market. PLEDGER’S CRAFT is a manufacturer of fine high performance custom wood-strip kayaks, both Sea, Touring and Recreational Kayaks. Our goal is to produce a craft that not only looks and feels good but paddles to the highest of standards and to offer the best customer service on the market.

We are located in a small community known as Trinity in the piedmont region of North Carolina. This region has always been rich in Fine Furniture due to the availability of hardwoods.

We cut our own strips and mill each strip with a bead and cove. This technique increases the surface area for gluing the strip together and reduces the gaps between boards.  This is vary much like the tongue and grove technique used in the flooring industry.  This also allows us to contour the strips over a radius without having large gaps between the strips.

Not only do we produce wood-strip kayaks but we also manufacture Greenland style paddles and beautiful Kayak Cocktail Tables.  We are now refurbishing Wood-Strip Classic Boats. We use a verity of wood species some of which are Western Red Cedar, White Ash, Redwood, Hickory, Birch, Mahogany, Paulownia, etc.
